(Rāhana Tito-Taylor) walks under the tutelage of many giants in form and spirit from various musical traditions as an exponent of taonga puoro (traditional Maori instruments), psychedelic groove music, and avant-garde beats – think Hirini Melbourne meets Sun Ra meets Jeff Parker meets Les Rallizes Dénudés meets Ras

(fka WhyFi.) has been a trailblazing force within the Tămaki Makaurau and wider Aotearoa music scene since the mid 2010’s, an artist who leans courageously into traditional and iconoclastic tendencies to stretch and weave sound and feeling, summoning spontaneous music that wades between the strange and familiar.
