M.E. Baird & The Fold will be performing a rare and unique gig at Pearces Creek Hall as part of the hall’s winter sessions program.

Saturday, July 4th.

Go back to 2020: M.E. Baird faced significant challenges, including a cancer diagnosis and the impact of COVID, which led to the cancellation of a tour in support of his long player, TIME.

M.E. Baird would then undertake four years of treatment, putting all ideas of touring with TIME and the band on hold, perhaps indefinitely.

He would, however, channel these experiences into Spinning Man, a six-track solo mini-album inspired by the poetry works of Dylan Thomas and Anne Sexton. Upon its release, Spinning Man received immediate critical acclaim for its distinctive songwriting and quiet intensity, described by one critic as ‘falling backwards into a never-ending narcotic dream’.

Although touring remained difficult, Baird managed three small local release shows, which were well received and praised for their emotional intensity and left-of-centre approach and delivery.

Building on this positive response, Baird returned in 2026 to performing songs from both albums and new material.

The show at Pearces Creek Hall will see Baird performing with his band ‘The Fold’, made up from some of his closest collaborators, who are some of the region’s most talented musicians in their own right, including Leroy Who, Ashleigh Bo, Karl S Williams and Darren Bridge.
