Event Details
Join us for a night of shanties and eclectic acoustic music with The Salty Sirens and Whiskey Remorse.
Traditional? Not really. Experimental? No, not that either. A smashing acoustic pub band that sounds a little bit like a folk band got on a tour bus with a rock band, stopped at a Taylor Swift concert, and ejected three funny looking multi-instrumentalists, two of whom are probably slightly tipsy? Yeah, that’s fairly accurate. Vocals, fiddle, flutes and whistles, and punchy DADGAD guitar, supported by a driving beat and playful banter.
Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy “Capstan”field (vocals and accordion) and Elyse “Fish”patrick (vocals and whale facts). Since 2021, they have been rocking boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas.
Hoist the anchor and limber up those sealegs – these really aren’t your grandpa’s sea shanties!
Tickets are $15/20 presale or $20/25 on the day.
Buying presale is cheaper for you and helps the artists to plan their events.
Sea ye there!
