Bleak Squad is a new Melbourne four-piece made up of true Australian art-rock royalty — Mick Turner (Dirty Three, Mess Esque), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, The Birthday Party), Adalita (Magic Dirt), and Marty Brown (Art of Fighting).

Uniting for the first time, the band has released their brooding, noir-rock debut LP Strange Love, which has already been shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. Born from spontaneous jam sessions, Strange Love sees all four artists swapping instruments, sharing songwriting duties, and alternating vocals between Adalita and Harvey.

The result is a confident nine-track journey through love, loss, and loneliness — driven by fizzing guitars, winding basslines, and Turner’s unmistakable, expressive guitar tone. With Strange Love, Bleak Squad marks a bold and captivating new chapter in Australian music.
