Femme&Friends. Pwoar where do I even begin?!

The Meanjin iteration of the F&F residency was revived because I missed seeing my community regularly, and I felt the need to support it from within.

The F&F lauch went off with a bang, with a whopping 83 people rocked up on a Wednesday! With the illustrious graceather on the tools and the angel @rah_hahaha_ on the door, set the tone and carried us through the night.

In our feedback session we realised the importance of a MC! ssssoooo..

The second month comes blazing by, and with @rosa_mack as MC and @tired_fairy000 at the helm, the ship sailed smoothly throughout the night for our 75 guests. We did something a bit different in our May edition, we showcased songwriters AND electronic artists. Am I allowed to say this?? my favourite bit was the chip tunes rave at the end @esther.skyscraper, showing us that the music scene is as strong as it has ever been.

Lastly but MOSTLY! Everyone who has contributed, rocked up, bought a ticket, helped do poster runs, performed, given pep talks, hugs, suggested or given feedback, requested to play or be involved, YOU make this a sustainable project (I LITERALLY COULD NOT DO THIS ON MY OWN) it just goes to show that home is where the art is, it’s a place to grow a place to dream.

My vision is a movement where female identifying and non-binary voices are at the centre of the conversation and at the centre of that dream

The Future is gender diverse!

Pleassee come along for the last night in this set of residencies.

Femme and Friends will continue to survive, thrive, moisturise and de-colonise through music, connection, community and action.
