Art | Olafur Eliasson: Presence

5.30 – 8.30pm | Level 1, GOMA

Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson invites us on an expansive multi-sensory journey to the edges of perception through the exhibition ‘Presence’. Choose your path through a rocky, primordial landscape, navigate an optical puzzle, or envision the future form of our city.

‘It exceeded my expectations and really pushed the boundary of what I thought contemporary art could be.’

Pop-up Performances: Vanessa Tomlinson

7.00 – 7.15pm | Presence (Level 1), GOMA & 7.45 – 8.00pm | Riverbed (Level 1), GOMA

Awaken your ears and immerse yourself in sound composed and performed by multi-award winning percussionist and composer Vanessa Tomlinson, within ‘Olafur Eliasson: Presence’.

On Fri 8 May only, the works will be performed by distinguished percussionist Nozomi Omote.

Pop-up Performances: Freestylers

5.45 – 6.00pm & 6.30 – 6.45pm | GOMA Foyer

Experience the Meanjin/Brisbane freestyle dance community in action as they bring popping, breaking, hip-hop and more to life at pop-up performances.

This crew brings together dancers from all over Meanjin/Brisbane, representing a variety of street and freestyle dance. Coming from all walks of life and united by their love of dance, music and community, for years they have trained and connected with GOMA as a backdrop.

As a former Scandinavian break-dancing champion, Olafur Eliasson states that his dance practice altered the way he understands time and space.

Street dance enabled me to explore the space of my body in relation to the world around me.” – Olafur Eliasson

Vinyl Listening Bar

5.30 – 8.30pm | Parkview Room, GOMA

Settle into the Vinyl Listening Bar, GOMA’s take on the global listening bar tradition. Moody lighting, handcrafted cocktails, delicious snacks, and records played the way they were meant to be heard. Different selectors will take you somewhere new, every Friday night

Selectors are curated by Dom Bird (Beats of No Nation). Vintage sound system supplied by Silky Sounds.

Drink service concludes at 8.15pm.
