Join us for Signal Rites, a new performance series from Cyber Bunker dedicated to the wild, wired, and wonderfully uncharted.

Meanjin/Brisbane’s newest experimental night dives into the worlds of modular synthesis, custom and DIY electronics, pedal-driven soundscapes, and boundary pushing music technologies. Expect deep textures, unexpected signals, and yes—there may even be beats.

Located just steps from the train station, it’s an easy hop over to immerse yourself in a full-spectrum sonic experience. Come through, tune in, and let the circuitry sing.

Synthschool.909

Julian is Synthschool.909, a live electronic artist turning limitation into identity. Since 2019, he’s been teaching synthesis the old-school way: hands-on, no computers. That same philosophy defines his performances. Using beginner level hardware, he starts every set from silence, with no saved patches and no sequences. His sound moves through industrial techno and into the pulse of French house. Julian wears cochlear implants. Sound arrives differently, and so it is built differently. Each set is shaped through a unique atonal perception that sits slightly outside the expected. Synthschool.909 is not a performance. It’s a live system coming online.

A new electroacoustic folk project comprised of Maeve Parker (Witness K), Joel Saunders (Yearns, Spirit Bunny) and Henry Reese (Lite Fails). The trio create spectral drones and organic ambience using flute, trumpet, banjo, mandolin, accordion and live tape loops. They perform alongside past versions of themselves.

Winter Cyan

Winter Cyan is a meanjin interdisciplinary artist and big synth nerd making electro acoustic music ranging from atmospheric to urgent. She loves blinking lights, electronics, transing gayly, and heartfelt art of all kinds.
