Palace Cinemas (39 James St, New Farm)

Event Details

The Corrick Collection held at Australia’s National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) is an unusually rich cultural heritage treasure, its centrepiece is the 135 nitrate-based films exhibited by a family of travelling performers who toured Australia and the world between 1897 and 1914. The films were restored photochemically over 20 years ago and has been screened internationally at prestige festivals to audience rapture, yet despite its cultural heritage value the Corrick Collection is yet to build a profile commensurate with its true national significance.

This unique Australian audiovisual heritage curated by Michael Brooks of Reel Moving Cinema in collaboration with KEPK, reimagines these century old visual narratives through a live screening event featuring an array of contemporary sound artists, experimentalists and composers.
